Rich kids in Australia and Netherlands

Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar is officially Australia’s richest person aged 40 and under, topping the AFR’s Young Rich List with a personal fortune of $17.7 billion. Farquhar founded tech juggernaut Atlassian with partner Mike Cannon-Brookes (who ironically would have taken top spot if he didn’t turn 41 in November), and has dominated the AFR’s list for years. His personal wealth is so comparatively large it accounts for nearly half the entire wealth of the top 100 named in the list.

In a second and third place tie is Canva founders Melanie Perkins (aged 34) and Cliff Obrecht (aged 32), who each boast a personal fortune of $3.4 billion. After experiencing a stratospheric boom in business, Afterpay founder Nick Molnar (aged 30) moved into fourth spot with $2.2 billion. He is now officially the country’s youngest billionaire. Rounding out the top five was another Canva business partner Cameron Adams (aged 40) with $1.12 billion.
