The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) analysed the tax returns of almost 15 million Australians from the 2019-2020 income year, finding the postcodes with the highest and lowest average taxable income. The Perth suburbs of Cottesloe and Peppermint Grove took out the top spot. Data from the ATO found that residents in the 6011 postcode had an average taxable income of $325,343. For others, it has drawn criticism and backlash, with followers pointing out how their lifestyle feels disconnected from the everyday struggles of average Australians.
Usually more discreet, coming from established families tied to mining, banking, or property. They’re often educated at prestigious schools like Sydney Grammar, Scotch College, or Melbourne Grammar, and their circles are defined by legacy and tradition. Children of tech entrepreneurs, property developers, and business moguls who rose to wealth in recent decades. They’re more likely to flaunt their lifestyle online and build influencer careers around luxury and travel.
