Imagine being given everything you could ever want from a young age. The best education, holidays and homes, then told you never really need to work because your family has more than enough money. A dreamy scenario for some. But there is normally a side effect: wealth robs children of motivation. The more money that is given to children from a young age, the less passion and motivation they have, say wealth advisors. One of the biggest misconceptions in the world is that children who are from wealthy families, are free of struggles. This comes in stark contrast to children who are from low-income families, where we constantly hear the struggles they are facing when it comes to opportunities, food security and the basic rights that all humans should have.
Since children in wealthy families don’t have these struggles, it may be easy to assume that they don’t have any struggles. However, this is not accurate, and just because their struggles may be different, they can be just as serious with serious consequences. According to CNN, children who are from wealthy families are more likely to suffer from drug and alcohol use, depression and anxiety. They are far more likely to suffer these issues than the national average. They also have different stressors like making sure they have access t money and pressures to succeed in life.
