So I’d be sleeping in the seat on the right, for example, but with my backpack resting on the seat on the left with my head on top of it. This is extremely uncomfortable as it puts pressure on your stomach muscles, but it’s the easiest way to sleep that I could find other than simply sprawling out on my back across multiple seats. Vulnerable populations, including women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and youth, face elevated risks of assault and exploitation. Supportive communities, counseling programs, and meaningful social interactions can make a huge difference in mental well-being.

Developing strategies to stay safe, such as moving locations, forming supportive networks, or learning self-defense. Maintaining hope and motivation to seek a better life through education, employment, or rehabilitation programs. Helping others in the community, creating informal support systems among people experiencing homelessness. The psychological impact of homelessness is profound. Anxiety, depression, and trauma are common, yet individuals often find ways to cope.
