Consider researching dental schools and preparing for the Dental Admission Test (DAT) as you near the end of your undergraduate education. Upon admission, dental school students can work toward either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Programs typically host advanced courses in periodontics, anatomy, local anesthesia and radiology. Students also complete clinical experience during which they work with patients under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
