The first female publisher

Her time in academia was tragically cut short following the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Like many educators from the pre-revolution era, she was expelled—at the age of 41—but not silenced. In response to growing repression, Koban founded Damavand, the first publishing house established by a woman after the Revolution. She published the first four volumes of her literary anthology Cheragh—“The Lamp”—a bold testament to the power of words during darkness.
