The first female publisher

Despite the many silences imposed on her, Sima Koban never stopped searching for forms of expression—whether through visual art, sociological analysis, or literature. Her life’s work was a deliberate act of resistance against tyranny, and an unyielding affirmation of the human need to see, speak, and be seen. In her later years in Strasbourg, even as her physical strength waned, her intellectual and emotional power deepened. She organized lectures on cultural repression, mentored exiled students, and curated exhibitions of politically engaged art.
