Catacombe dei Cappuccini Museum

Italian monks discovered a new way of balming bodies and waiting for the Day of Judgment in 1599. After digging up a large cellar, they hung the bodies inside the shelves of the crypt and rinsed them occasionally with vinegar and disinfectants. Most of the mummies in this crypt are nuns and are in a form that seems to be waiting for the doomsday. This crypt filled with standing mummies has now become a scary museum for visitors.
