Marzieh, born Ashraf ol-Sadat Mortezaei in Tehran on March 22, 1924, was one of the most celebrated and influential singers in the history of music. Her remarkable career spanned more than six decades, during which she captivated audiences both in Iran and around the world.
Marzieh’s artistic journey began at a young age. After years of studying Persian music and vocal techniques under distinguished masters, she made her breakthrough in 1942 when she performed the leading role of Shirin in the Persian operetta Shirin and Farhad.
