[custom_adv] The 76th annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 28 August to 7 September 2019. Film director Lucrecia Martel was appointed as the President of the Jury. [custom_adv] The Truth, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, was selected to open the festival. The Golden Lion was awarded to Joker, directed by Todd Phillips. [custom_adv] Ershadi was born in Isfahan, in 1947. He studied architecture in Italy and worked as an architect for many years. He was "discovered" as an actor by acclaimed New Wave film director, Abbas Kiarostami. [custom_adv] The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. [custom_adv] The Festival also organises retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema. [custom_adv] The Venice International Film Festival offers all those working in the cinematographic sector the possibility of requesting accreditation according to their specific field of employment.
