Their next work, Rapture (1999) written by Shoja Azari and Shirin Neshat, was proclaimed a ‘masterpiece’ by the art critic and philosopher Arthur Danto, a seminal voice in contemporary art. Since then Shoja and Shirin have produced more than fifteen video and art installations that have been exhibited widely in museums and art festivals around the globe. In 2000, Shoja embarked on his interpretation of Kafka for the screen by adapting three of the great writer’s short stories into a trilogy, which was presented as his first feature film K that premiered at Venice International Film Festival in 2002 and was screened at the Moscow International Film Festival, the IFP Los Angeles International Film Festivals, among others.
