As we have already mentioned, they oversee the film production process. That is their primary role. But it goes further than that. They organize all details of the film and are equally responsible for launching the project, hiring the crew, hiring the scriptwriters, and sometimes even hiring and interviewing the actors. They are in fact the first to notice the commercial and creative implications of the film. So whenever a film grosses over its profits, it could be easily assumed that the producer worked really hard to push the film to its success.
