Bushra Dasturnejad, poet and actress

She began writing poetry at the age of thirteen, using it as a private sanctuary for thoughts she couldn’t yet speak aloud. Over time, her words began to find public spaces—first in open mics, then in publications, and eventually on stage and screen. Trained in both classical theater and experimental performance, Bushra brings a hybrid sensibility to her craft. She is just as comfortable performing Shakespeare as she is improvising in movement-based pieces or delivering monologues that blur the line between poem and script.
