As the elder sister of Mohammad Reza, Shams held a prominent place within the royal family. She was well-educated and often participated in the social and cultural events of the time. However, despite her royal status, Shams lived in the shadow of her brother, who was the focus of national attention once he ascended to the throne in 1941, following their father’s forced abdication by the Allied powers during World War II.
