Soraya made her film debut in Tranquility in the Presence of Others (1970), a psychological drama that was well ahead of its time. Though the film faced censorship and was banned upon release, it marked a major milestone in her career and demonstrated her willingness to take on challenging, socially relevant roles. The Revolution drastically changed the landscape of arts and culture in the country. Many actors from the pre-revolution era left or were sidelined.
