One area where their cooperation was particularly visible was in discussions about oil production and pricing through the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. Both countries recognized the strategic importance of oil exports for their national economies and for the global market. Although they occasionally held different views on pricing or production levels, their dialogue within OPEC helped shape major energy decisions throughout the decade.
Diplomatic exchanges between Tehran and Riyadh also reflected a level of mutual respect between the leadership of the two countries. High-level visits, official meetings, and diplomatic channels reinforced the relationship and allowed both sides to manage disagreements through dialogue. At the same time, both governments were attentive to developments across the Middle East, including conflicts and political movements that could affect regional stability.
