However, the 1979 revolution marked a dramatic shift, with many of the advances made under the Shah’s rule being dismantled or reversed in the aftermath. Jahanbani, as a symbol of the old regime, became a casualty of the political and social upheaval that followed. The loss of Jahanbani and other military leaders represented the loss of a certain vision for future—a vision rooted in modernization, Westernization, and military strength.
By the 1960s, Jahanbani became one of the key figures in modernizing air force. Under his leadership, the IIAF introduced advanced aircraft, including the legendary F-14 Tomcat, making it one of the most capable air forces in the region. His work also saw the formation of the Golden Crown aerobatic team, which showcased the skills of pilots in spectacular displays.
