These achievements earned him the nickname “Blue-Eyed General” and the title of “Father of the Air Force,” due to his transformative role in shaping its capabilities. Jahanbani’s influence extended beyond his role as a military leader. He understood the importance of technical advancement and sought to create a modern, sophisticated air force that could not only defend the nation but also project power. This commitment to modernization played a crucial role in strengthening defense infrastructure during the reign of the Pahlavi dynasty.
However, General Jahanbani’s career would come to a tragic end with the overthrow of the Pahlavi monarchy in 1979. Following the Islamic Revolution, underwent drastic political and social changes. The new revolutionary government led by viewed the previous military establishment as a symbol of the old regime and sought to purge it of loyalists to the Shah. Despite his loyal service, Jahanbani was arrested by the revolutionary authorities. He was accused of numerous charges, including “War on God” and “Corruption on Earth,” which were often levied against former regime officials.
