Jahanbani’s passion for aviation led him to the Imperial Air Force (IIAF), where he started his military career in 1950. After completing his education at the prestigious Russian Air Force Academy, he swiftly rose through the ranks due to his outstanding skills and leadership qualities. By the 1960s, Jahanbani became one of the key figures in modernizing air force. Under his leadership, the IIAF introduced advanced aircraft, including the legendary F-14 Tomcat, making it one of the most capable air forces in the region. His work also saw the formation of the Golden Crown aerobatic team, which showcased the skills of pilots in spectacular displays.
These achievements earned him the nickname “Blue-Eyed General” and the title of “Father of the Air Force,” due to his transformative role in shaping its capabilities. Jahanbani’s influence extended beyond his role as a military leader. He understood the importance of technical advancement and sought to create a modern, sophisticated air force that could not only defend the nation but also project power. This commitment to modernization played a crucial role in strengthening defense infrastructure during the reign of the Pahlavi dynasty.
