Political Pressure Mounts Over Appointment of Women’s Vice President in Football Federation Reports indicate that following countries major defeat in the World Cup and amid continued support for Federation President Mehdi Taj from security institutions, key positions within the  Football Federation are being circulated among individuals linked to government officials.

One such post is the Vice Presidency for Women’s Affairs, where IR International has learned that Sara Rezaei, daughter of Mohsen Rezaei, is allegedly lobbying for her preferred candidate to be appointed. According to a report by the newspaper Etemad, Mehdi Taj is facing external political pressure to appoint Mansoureh Hashemi as the federation’s vice president for women’s football.
