Education continues to be one of the most defining elements. Beyond private schooling, there’s often an expectation of attending top universities, whether in Canada or abroad. Schools like McGill, UBC, or even institutions in the U.S. and the U.K. become natural next steps. Gap years, internships through family connections, and early exposure to professional environments give these students a significant head start.

Yet, despite all the advantages, there can be a quiet search for identity. When resources and opportunities are readily available, the question shifts from “What can I do?” to “What do I actually want to do?” Some push against expectations—pursuing creative fields, entrepreneurship, or social impact work instead of traditional high-status careers. Others follow the established path, not out of passion, but because it feels inevitable.
