Gholam Reza Pahlavi (May 15, 1923 – May 7, 2017), who was addressed by the royal title Prince Gholam Reza Pahlavi before the Revolution, was the sixth child of Reza Shah Pahlavi and his wife, Turan Amirsoleimani. Prince Gholam Reza was a senior officer in the Imperial Army Ground Forces and held the rank of Lieutenant General. Before the Revolution, he held several positions, including President of the National Olympic Committee, Inspector General of the Headquarters of the Imperial Iranian Armed Forces, and Special Aide-de-Camp to his brother, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi.
After the Shah was informed of the Siahkal incident, he appointed Gholam Reza as a commander to suppress the uprising and pursue the insurgents. The Siahkal uprising was ultimately decisively suppressed by the government, and the insurgents were pursued by government forces. After completing his elementary education, Prince Gholam Reza was sent to Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland to continue his studies, along with three of his half-brothers, Abdol Reza Pahlavi, Ahmad Reza Pahlavi, and Mahmoud Reza Pahlavi.
