Assistant stylists are junior stylists training and getting experience under the supervision of master stylists. This can involve a lot of learning on the job and assistants usually perform similar roles to shampoo assistants, including sweeping, greeting, making clients comfortable and handling customer service. They may take on more complex jobs like colour formation and blow drying but generally only take on more hands-on tasks with a stylist present. They may be working towards qualifications for a full stylist role and be working to meet the required hours to earn more certificates.
