Farewell to the national Wushu team

In 1989, the late Sri Anand Kacker introduced the game to India. It quickly gained popularity across the nation. In the same year, the Wushu Association of India was formally founded. In 2006, India competed in Wushu for the first time. India has so far won 3 Gold Medals at the Wushu World Championships. The team has also won 9 Silver Medals and 16 Bronze Medals over the years. In 2017, Pooja Kadian bagged the first-ever gold medal for India at the Wushu World Championship which was hed in Russia. In 2022, Praveen Kumar became the first male athlete to win a gold medal at the Wushu World Championship as well.
