10 Reflections on the Life and Legacy of Alireza Pahlavi

January 3rd marks the fourteenth anniversary of the tragic passing of HRH Ali Reza Pahlavi. In 3 January 2011, after a period of struggling with depression, Prince Alireza tragically died by suicide at his home in Boston, Massachusetts, leaving behind a legacy marked by both intellectual pursuits and the deep personal and familial impact of political upheaval.
Prince Alireza (28 April 1966 – 4 January 2011) was the second son of HIM Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah and HIM Empress Farah. Born in Tehran, Ali Reza grew up as part of the Pahlavi royal family during his father’s reign, which ended with the disastrous Islamist-Marxist Revolution in 1979.
