The Mostofian Family and the Birth of Neighborhoods

The title Mostofi, meaning chief accountant or finance minister, was held by several members of the family most notably Mirza Hasan Mostofi al-Mamalek, who served as Prime Minister multiple times under the Qajar and early Pahlavi rulers. Their bureaucratic expertise and close ties with ruling elites allowed them to amass significant wealth, which they strategically reinvested in real estate, infrastructure, and urban planning.
