The Mostofian Family and the Birth of Neighborhoods

The salons hosted by the Mostofians were vibrant with debate, bridging conservative aristocracy and modernist ideals. The 1979 Islamic Revolution marked a sharp turning point for many of elite families, including the Mostofians. Their properties were nationalized or seized, family members were either exiled or faded into relative obscurity, and their once-prominent name became less publicly recognized, especially among younger generations. However, even as the family’s formal influence diminished, their contributions to Tehran’s development could not be erased.
