Habits that never leave former prisoners

Individuals who end up in prison can be some of the most vulnerable or traumatized members of society, and the experience of prison itself is traumatic on top of that. In some ways, the entire family is incarcerated, or at the very least deeply affected. The experience of incarceration is often life-altering, shaping individuals in ways that linger long after their release. While many former prisoners strive to reintegrate into society and leave their past behind, certain habits and behaviors—whether formed out of necessity or as coping mechanisms—remain ingrained in their daily lives. These habits can have both positive and negative impacts, influencing their interactions with the world around them.
