Reza then tried to get male members of other Catholic royals and nobles to rule Goa, but they refused because they had no desire to rule Goa. Reza because of this decided to make his Roman Catholic Uncle (Shahbaz’s father, Mehrdad Pahlbod the ruler of Goa). Mehrdad Pahlbod and Shams both accepted the proposal and they moved to Goa as they were crowned the ruling sovereigns of Goa. Shahbaz became heir apparent after that. The Pahlbods as the royals of the newly independent Goa had decided to move into the House of seven gables and make it their palace which resulted in Margao (or Madgaon), the commercial capital of Goa becoming the official capital of Goa itself.
