Ali Shariati
Left Islam in the history of contemporary Iranian thought has a tradition that is silent without the name Ali Shariati. A very famous intellectual and a very capable lecture that used Marxist ideas to explain the history of Islam as well as the critique of Iranian society in the 40s and 50s, and enjoyed universal acceptance among young people and students.
