After graduating high school, she went on to attend the University of Michigan to study finance. She landed a well-paying finance job shortly after graduating. However, the recession in 2008 left her jobless and looking for other options. Instead of trying to find another job in finance, Kattan decided to attend the famous Joe Blasco makeup school and then started her own beauty blog in 2010 called Huda Beauty. Kattan is the third child of four siblings. She has an older brother named Khalid, an older sister named Alya, and a younger sister named Mona. When Kattan first decided to pursue a career in the beauty industry, it was her older sister, Alya, who helped her get her foot in the door.
