Formal qualifications are optional for fashion models. While they can prepare you for life after modelling, they have little impact on your modelling employment prospects. If you know a photographer or friend with photographic skills, ask them to take some photos of you for your portfolio. Ensure your portfolio contains digitals or ‘DIGIS’ for short. Pose for these photos with a make-up-free face and simple clothes, such as jeans and a fitted T-shirt. Pull long hair back in a ponytail or plait to reveal your face. Use natural sunlight rather than artificial lights for your photo shoot.
